I want you to love your business, I want you to feel proud and connected to it. I want you to feel like it not only represents all that you value and care about, but that it communicates to your audience perfectly.

I created Jam Tree to express and share what I know about marketing with heart and soul. It's for you - the one who started something you believed in, something you care about deeply and need the permission and know-how to get that flowing through the thing you do again.


Connection is important to me. I believe it’s at the core of what makes us human, what makes us tick, and it's critical because it’s the conduit to the core needs we humans require. Think Maslow’s hierarchy of needs; once we get the physiological and safety requirements sorted, we move up into the things that make us thrive. Belonging, acceptance, understanding, purpose and love are some of these things. And in order to achieve them, we need connection with others. 

I think that it's through sharing our experiences with others, that we can grow; by making connections in our own lives through the experiences of others. That’s why connection and community are so important to me and at the heart of the Jam Tree philosophy. We need to connect, we need to belong and at the end of the day, that’s because we all want to feel like we matter and that we’re loved. These are core human desires and they reflect the fact that we’re not solitary beings. It’s that connection with others that affirms our own lives and indeed the only chance we have of changing the world. 

Jam Tree is all about marketing in a way that works with our human instincts, not against them. Our instinct to connect and share, to create unique and beautiful things and to make the world just that little bit better. At the core of this idea is authenticity and community. It’s amazing what happens when people really tap into why they do things and what makes them truly happy. Creating connections and crafting these core desires into a an authentic and meaningful story is where brand messaging starts. Connecting with the why on the inside and developing a voice to tell that story as a way of forming connections with others is what marketing means to me. It’s a liberating joy and an art form that can contribute to making the world a better place.

The world is full of buzz and noise and competing in all that clutter is not the way to be heard or to share an important message. The way to be heard is through the heart, it always has been. More than ever people crave real connection, authentic stories and pursuits that are meaningful. We’re looking for ways to have our values and principles reflected back to us. We want to make buying choices that are ethical, we want to feel like service providers actually care about us and if we’ve got our own message to share, we want to find the people who care about it.

I truly believe that starting at the heart is not only a viable way of crafting marketing strategies, but a more powerful and meaningful way that produces sustainable results. And why is that so? Because people are not machines, they are emotional beings who connect with other emotional beings, not things. We want things to matter and we all want to belong. Expressing your values, your mission and what you care about is a way for people to connect, and through community, belong to something. Going to the heart of what matters to your business with the goal of nurturing a committed, engaged and loyal community is where crafting that unique story begins, the bedrock of your brand and the reason people are searching for.
